How our mould kit works for grillz orders across NSW
Our mould kit lets anyone in NSW take their own dental impression at home and post it back to us, with no need to travel into Sydney. Follow the instructions carefully and in order, because a clean, fully set mould is what makes a grillz set fit snugly rather than loosely.
Who the mould kit is for
Most clients across Greater Sydney, from Parramatta to Bondi, book an in-person appointment and we take their mould for them. The posted kit exists for anyone further afield in NSW who wants the same custom fit without travelling — you take the impression yourself, following our instructions, and post it back to us for casting.
What's in the kit
Each kit includes dental-grade impression material, a tray sized to fit most adult mouths, mixing tools, clear written instructions, and return packaging. Everything you need is included — there's nothing extra to buy.
Before you start
Clean your teeth thoroughly and rinse well — any food debris will get picked up in the impression and can affect the finished fit. Read the full instructions once before you open any materials, and set aside a clear ten minutes where you won't be interrupted partway through mixing.
Taking the impression
The process follows the same basic steps most dental impression kits use, timed carefully so the material sets properly before it's removed.
- Mix the impression material exactly as instructed, working quickly and evenly before it starts to set.
- Load it into the tray so it's evenly spread with no large air gaps.
- Bite down gently and hold still — don't press so hard that the tray touches your gums, and don't move around while it sets.
- Wait for the full setting time stated in the instructions before removing the tray; removing it early is the single biggest cause of a soft or inaccurate mould.
- Remove the tray with one firm, steady pull rather than easing it out slowly, which can distort the impression.
Checking it before you post it back
A good impression shows crisp, clear detail of every tooth you want covered, with no air bubbles, tears or missing teeth in the area you're having fitted. If anything looks smudged, torn or incomplete, it's always better to redo it with the spare material included in the kit than to send one you're unsure about — a poor mould is the one thing that can't be corrected once casting has started.
Pack it in the return packaging provided and post it back to us using the instructions in the kit. We'll check it on arrival and get in touch straight away if we need you to redo any part of it.
What happens after we receive it
Once we have a usable mould, we confirm your design and metal choice, take the deposit, and get your set into casting. From that point, timelines are the same as for an in-person appointment: 5–10 business days for plain metal, 10–15 business days for gold or stone-set pieces, with your finished set posted to you.
Questions people ask
Is a mould kit as accurate as an in-person appointment?
It can be, provided the instructions are followed closely and the impression sets fully before removal. We check every mould on arrival and will ask you to redo it if it isn't clear enough to cast from.
What if I get it wrong the first time?
Each kit includes spare material so you can try again before posting. If we receive a mould that isn't usable, we'll contact you to arrange a replacement attempt rather than casting from something unclear.
How long does the mould kit process take overall?
Allow time for the kit to reach you anywhere in NSW, for posting your impression back, plus the usual 5–10 business day (plain metal) or 10–15 business day (gold or stone-set) casting turnaround once we've confirmed your mould.
